![]() The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on May 25, 2023, for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5 and then later in the year will see its debut on the Nintendo Switch. Games such as this one will allow players to take a deeper look into not only the world but the character of Gollum, who plays such a pivotal role in the events that succeeded him and how they changed the world. Tolkien left for fans of his fantasy world in Middle-earth provides such deep lore that it may never be fully comprehended by the casual fan. The 17-track orchestral soundtrack to the game is most likely to be available as a separate purchase, as soundtracks to games often are available for individual release. The Steam store appears to show each of these items such as the Lore Compendium and Art Exhibition as coming soon, while other digital marketplaces such as the Xbox store shows individual pages for each but states that they are not available separately. ![]() It looks and plays like a movie tie-in game rushed out to meet a tight deadline. The pre-order bonus of the six Gollum emotes will not be available after The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been released, but it is not yet clear if the Precious Edition extras could be purchased separately. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an unwelcome throwback to the era of truly awful licensed games.
